Practices

Rits Computer Forensics have set policies and procedures whereby all personnel involved during an investigation must adhere to. These practises are those that are set out in the guidelines published by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) and enforced by An Garda Síochana in Ireland and the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) in the UK.

The aim of the ACPO Good Practise Guide is to ensure that valuable electronic evidence is treated in the same manner as traditional forensic evidence. The methods of recovering electronic evidence, whilst maintaining evidential continuity and integrity may seem complex and costly, but experience has shown that, if dealt with correctly, it will produce evidence that is both compelling and cost effective.
